Mens clothing seems to go on sale mostly during the holidays and maybe once when each season changes. So how is a guy supposed to keep up with dressing well without all of the sale prices to ease the burden on his wallet?

Here are three simple tips to spruce up your look on a budget:

1. Check Your Pants – if you look through your closet, you probably have a few pairs of pants that don’t fit as well as they used to, but are still in great shape! Don’t throw them away! Take them to your local tailor and have them adjusted. It’s cheaper than buying all new pants and you come out with better-fitting pants. This also works great for any old suits or coats!

2. Show Your Shoes Some Love – every man can be easily appraised by the shoes on his feet. Get your shoes polished and repaired instead of replacing them. Often times a good polish can make an old shoe look like a completely new one, and it will still be broken in!

3. Build Off What You Have – look at what you currently own, and then buy a few new pieces that work with it. A few new pieces can freshen up your existing wadrobe while still allowing you to mix-and-match between old and new for all new looks!

Picking The Right Tie

It’s a New Year, which means plenty of resolutions to go around! Often this includes upgrading one’s wardrobe to reflect the “new you” for the upcoming year.

So let’s start with an often overlooked fashion accessory that is making a comeback – the necktie! Yes there is more to it than just picking a color that matches your suit and tying it properly. Believe it or not, your tie can say a lot about you, and can often make or break how people look at you.

Here are three tips to keep you from getting tied up!

• A proper tie should hit the top of your belt buckle, and be between 3 and 4 inches wide. If you wear a tie that’s too short, you can come across as clueless. Too long, and you look like a little kid trying on daddy’s clothes. Use different knots to get the proper length, and make sure to use the tie’s keeper to hold the skinny end in place.

• In business, whether or not you need a tie is all about your role versus where the money is. The closer you are to the money, the more you need to wear that tie, especially if you have to sell your services or convince someone else to give you the money. If you are on the opposite end of the spectrum, you can probably get away with not wearing it.

• Match your jacket, suit, and tie to your natural complexion. If you are a high contrast person (dark hair and light skin or vice versa), your outfit should be the same way. If your hair-skin contrast is much softer, then go for lower-constrasting colors as well.

Classy and Warm Winter Coats for Men

Especially when the weather gets cold, all sorts of heavy and thermal coats hit the fashion scene for men.

Some coats are made from wool from a rare breed of mountain goat in the Alps; others look like someone inflated a balloon and stitched some seams onto it. Most of these jackets, while probably warm, just would not cut it in terms of meeting the every-day man’s winter wadrobe.

So here are three classic examples of men’s winter coats that have stood the test of time and continue to go strong.

• Pea Coats – whether you are wearing jeans or a suit, a pea coat goes with just about any wardrobe or outfit. The best colors for pea coats are usually black, navy and charcoal, but you can find some in more bold patterns and styles as well.

• Leather Bomber Jackets – whether you want to feel like Maverik from Top Gun or not, there’s no denying that the leather bomber jacket goes great with winter wardrobes. • Traditional Sheepskin/Shearling Coat – now if you really want to stay warm, get yourself one of these. While usually popular among cowboys and ranchers, they’ve quickly made themselves commonplace in the big city as well. How to buy the best fitting Bra

Buying the perfect bra is a hard thing to do.

We want to help our customers to make the best purchases possible, so here’s a handy little guide to help you out:

• It’s easiest to measure yourself either bra-less or in an unpadded bra – all you need is a fabric measuring tape available at any department store

• First, measure your band side – this is around your rib cage, right under the bust. Make sure the tape is flush against your skin. Add 5 inches to the measurement to get your band size. For instance, if you measure 29 inches around your rib cage, you’ll have a 34 inch band size – if you land on an even number, it’s best to round up

• Then, measure your cup size – measure around your bust at the fullest point- make sure the tape is firm to get an accurate measurement, but not too tight!

• Take the difference between your cup size and your band size, and convert this from numbers to letters, using the following scheme:
Less than 1 inch – AA, 1 inch – A, 2 inches – B, 3 inches – C, 4 inches – D, 5 inches – DD or E

• Your Band size + your cup size is your ideal bra size- use this as a starting point to try out new bras

6 Degrees of Separation for Dressing Up Men

• White Tie Affair – break out the best tailcoat, trousers and tie you have. You should definitely visit your local tailor to make sure it is properly fitted.

• Formal Affair – a nice black, white or gray suit will do, depending on the venue. Some trendier events formal events can even let you get away with leaving the tie at home.

• Cocktail Party – show your personality with this one! A dark suit is great, but you can be much more flexible in the style and accessories to better reflect you.

• Business Casual – you want to be comfortable but still look classic. A suit jacket with a sweater instead of a button-down shirt and tie works great for the winter.

• Leisure – anything goes… just don’t get too carried away! The right pair of jeans and a good casual shirt can make as striking an impression as a suit.

There you have it gentlemen! Always make sure you know what the dress code is when you are planning what to wear. And remember it is always better to be a little more sharply-dressed than too casual if you’re not sure.

Holiday Office Party Fashion Magic

White Haute Fashion Designers

Summer is finally here! It’s time to break out our white summer clothing again. Sometimes when we buy that beautiful summer dress from Vera Wang or Magaschoni, we don’t think about maintaining that pristine white, so here are some great tips for keeping those whites looking as crisp and pristine. Try to use natural oxygen safe bleach instead of commercial bleaches. It’s best to avoid most common available bleaches because of cancer-causing chemicals.

Household Tip: Adding ½ cup of lemon juice to the rinse cycle of a medium load of whites will lightly bleach the clothing. This technique is especially effective on clothes that are then hung to dry on the line.

Soften Your Water: The minerals in hard water can gray clothes. If you have very hard water, add ½ cup of vinegar to your rinse water.

Mineral Alternatives: To brighten whites if you don’t have hard water, use the might of minerals in your wash cycle. Add ½ cup borax or washing soda (both are available in the laundry section of your supermarket) to a medium load of laundry.

Read the labels: Make sure to read clothing labels, as some direct you to dry the clothes outside of direct sunlight. On the other hand, storing whites in the dark can cause yellowing. A general rule of thumb is that natural fibers love the sun and hanging them outside to dry on the line works the best!

Men’s Fashion- Staying Warm While Looking Cool

With cold weather still lingering, a lot of men these days are battling to stay warm while still maintaining a professional or “cool” look. I mean let’s face it, suits are not always made to keep you toasty warm, but that doesn’t mean some work environments will allow you to come in with a sweatshirt on either. So how are fashion-conscious men handling this dilemma? Their secret weapon: the topcoat.

The topcoat allows you to stay dressed up when you are wearing a suit, but just as easily dresses down with a sweater and jeans. The trick is to make sure you find the right topcoat! Topcoats should be comfortably fitted, but not too snug and definitely
not too lose.

So if you wear a lot of suits, make sure you wear a suit jacket when you are trying on the topcoat to make sure it fits comfortably over it. Also remember that the topcoat should hang to just above the knee, not to mid-shin.

The Wall Street Journal recently featured BHFO in two articles concerning the struggle for strong holiday sales by online sellers.

The first article, published last month, dealt with the consumer confusion created by eBay’s integration of fixed-price selling with their trademark auctions. In this troubled economy, a lot of online shoppers have been drifting away from eBay towards websites like Amazon, where they can quickly and easily make their purchases without worrying about bidding wars and uncertain prices. In an attempt to counter this, eBay has launched new fixed-price selling features. The move, which was intended to increase seller profits while attracting buyers back, has instead reportedly caused a lot of confusion to browsers shopping the site. Sellers have also been complaining, as their sales have not improved while the selling fees on their auction items have risen. However, some sellers (including BHFO) have begun experimenting with the new fixed-price options to try and better provide great deals for their customers. Read the full article here>>

eBay Powerselling Tips from Stacie Sefton

Stacie Sefton, CEO of BH Factory Outlet, was recently interviewed on eBay Radio by host Jim Griffith about how she became an eBay PowerSeller.
